⚠️The Icelandic Search and Rescue team asks to notice the following areas/places:

Highlands:
Roads in the highlands are closed during winter.

Reykjanes:
Grindavík area and Fagradalsfjall: Visitors are asked to stay away from the area due to the possibility of an eruption. Please respect closures.
Valahnjúkur is closed due to fissures and danger of landslides.
Krýsuvíkurberg: Big fissures in the sea-cliffs and danger of landslides. Respect fences and warnings.

South Iceland:
Reynisfjara: Do not enter the cave –  danger of rocks falling from the ceiling and getting trapped inside by the tides. In general at the beach: show extra caution, stay FAR back from the water, and do not leave children unattended! The beach can always be dangerous due to the unpredictability of the waves. See forecast for waves hér.

West Iceland:
Löngufjörur, Snæfellsnes peninsula: Not recommended to hike/walk there without a guide. Important to be careful around cliffs in the area and know the tides. The beach can always be dangerous due to unpredictability of the waves and quicksand.
Rauðafeldsgjá, Snæfellsnes peninsula: Not recommended to visit unless it is summer and good weather or winter and frost due to the possibility of ice and rocks falling.

DROPPING OFF

Drop-off InstructionsShuttle to KEF airportReturning After Hours

Ready to wrap up your trip? Here’s a helpful checklist.

We recommend arriving at least 20 min before shuttle time to have enough time to unpack and drop off the camper.

☑ Park the van in the drop-off area in front of the building.
☑ Make sure the fuel tank is full. An unmanned gas station is next to the building. A serviced gas station is two minutes down the road towards Keflavik.
☑ Make sure Webasto heating and fridge/cooler are turned off.
☑ Unpack your belongings. Make sure to check all drawers, gloves compartment and other small spaces.
☑ Take out trash. Any leftover food and usable items can be placed in the Free Zone for other campers.

Bring the following extras to the office:
☑ Any electronics: WiFi hotspot, tablet, inverter, Bluetooth speaker, and charging cables.
☑ Table and chairs.
☑ Thermo cups/coffee press.
☑ Other add-ons: BBQ Grill, guitar, clothesline, trekking poles.
Please leave bedding, sleeping bags, towels, dishes, pots, and cutlery in the camper.

Once you’ve done all this, please give the car keys to any service member to inspect the car and finalize the rental.

We recommend arriving at least 20 min before shuttle time to have enough time to unpack and drop off the camper.

KEF airport recommends 2-3 hours prior to International flights.

The driver can also drop you off at any hotel in the Keflavik area.

The shuttle does not drive to Reykjavik.

Any time between 17:00 and 08:00 is considered an after-hours drop-off

When returning the van after hours, leave all extras in the car. Take out your trash (there’s a trash container next to the campsite).
Please do not leave any items outside (next to a camper or next to the office doors). If there are any items you’d like to leave in Free Zone, leave them in a separate bag/box in a camper.

About 24/7 Dropoff Service

When using the 24/7 dropoff service, you need to keep a few things in mind and agree to the following:

• We won’t be able to assist you when you return the van.
• We will not be able to provide you with a physical copy of your invoice. Of course, you will get a digital copy via email and we’ll save some paper, which always makes us Happy!
• Our office will be closed, so you will not have access to any of our facilities.
• Our free Airport Shuttle will not be available for 24/7 dropoffs, so make sure that you plan your transportation accordingly.
• We recommend a simple taxi service and would be happy to help you organize that.
• In case of damage, we will not be able to provide you with relevant information on the spot like we usually do. Although the process can take up to 3 weeks for all cases (it depends on how fast our auto repair shop provides us with a quote), we are usually able to provide some case-specific information in person. This will not be the case when you choose to return the van after-hours.
• Obviously, we will not be able to look at and go over the damage with you in person.
